Hyderabad - The Next Commercial Hub

The boom in the Hyderabad real estate sector has still not been able to satisfy the growing demand from corporate looking for ready-to-occupy properties. IT and ITes are continuing to drive the market. IT professionals are vying to buy an apartment in Hyderabad.

Moreover, it's the commercial market which is driving the residential property segment in the city. Hyderabad real estate developers feel that, in next few years BPOs and call centers, software offices and back offices of financial institutions will occupy the maximum space. Property consultants expect the upward trend in prices to continue, even as the State Government frees up land in different parts of the city and the outskirts. Land availability will facilitate the creation of corporate office space.

In Jubilli Hills, central business district of Hyderabad, capital prices of plot range from Rs 80,000 to 2 lakh per sq ft. Retail property in CBDs is around Rs 3,500- Rs 10,000 per sq ft. Multiplex are the trendy and upcoming way of commercial activities ranges from Rs 10,000 per sq ft and goes above. The rental value in this area is Rs 30,000-60,000 per month which is high in comparison to other commercial localities.

Many new commercial projects are on the cards by big national developers. Raheja group has acquired 100 acres in Gundla, Pochampalli, Delhi based DLF has acquired 3 million sq ft land for commercial activities, Godrej Properties will be setting up an IT Park on 34 acres of land at Pattancheru, Parsvanath has a mall-cum- multiplex, and a hotel project coming up in the city, Ramkey group is venturing into commercial development in the city.

Hyderabad properties are fast becoming the preferred choice for investors. The city not only provides quality infrastructure for property investments but also has more than 40 SEZs, approximately 1100 Software IT Parks and campuses, an international airport. Mall culture, new airport and subsidy in stamp duty and registration charges of property are other key factors of high rise in the value of Real Estate in Hyderabad

Not Under My Home!

If a foundation repair contractor ever proposes to use bottle jacks as a method of structural repair, simply tell him - Not under my home!

Let's look at a bottle jack; it is an inexpensive hydraulic device, with a very small surface area, that has no gauges or controls to regulate pressure or volume of hydraulic fluid. The small saddle places all of the hydraulic force on to a very small section of your foundation which can cause additional wall cracking or catastrophic failure. Using an "L" type foundation repair bracket distributes this pressure over a much larger area, eliminating the fear of cracks. These brackets cradle your foundation while spreading the imposed load over a large surface area. "L" type foundation repair brackets can have 15 times more surface area to distribute the load.

Bottle jacks are not approved by engineers as a sound method of lifting structures. The correct method of lifting structures is a manifold synchronized lifting system designed for structural repair. It is very easy to see why when one looks at how they work. First, hydraulic cylinders are placed at each pier point and then routed back to a manifold valve bank. This manifold is then plumbed to one hydraulic pump source for even pressuring of the cylinders. The supervisor then has complete control over every lifting point from one location. The structure is evenly lifted and controlled for a safe and accurate lift rate and height without causing damage to the structure.

It is easy to see why using a synchronized lifting system is far superior to the alternative of five guys trying to hand pump bottle jacks evenly. It is your home; you have control over what is and is not done. So, if your contractor proposes bottle jacks as a source of driving or lifting under your home, simply tell him - Not under my home!

Homeowners Insurance Explained

If you are like most people, you will probably never need to submit an insurance claim. But no one is immune to bad luck, and it is good to know that the premiums of many people like you are available to pay for your mishaps and misfortune,if they occur. Within limits, home insurance reimburses you for your financial loss arising from mishaps that are generally "sudden and accidental" and, therefore, hard to predict and prevent.

There is no such thing as a standard home insurance policy. Because coverage may vary from one insurer to another, it is very important to have your broker or agent explain the policy to you before you agree to purchase the coverage.

Insurance coverage on your home should begin as soon as you become the legal owner or tenant, even if the home is still under construction.(Your home insurance policy can also cover related building materials on or adjacent to your property.) Before moving, call your broker or agent and go over any special insurance needs related to themove (e.g., covering contents in transit, or simultaneously at both old and new locations, etc.). Please be advised that theft insurance applies only when a building is ready for occupancy; vacant buildings are not normally insured for theft for more than 30 days (see "Vacant premises," page 8).

It pays to compare! Not all home insurance policies are created equal, nor are they priced the same. When buying a new policy or renewing a current one, you may wish to obtain quotes from a variety of insurance agents(who work for one insurer), and independent brokers (who represent different insurers). When dealing with independent brokers, it is important to know which companies they represent and where they place most of their business.

Some insurers offer discounts or other incentives for policyholders who install sprinkler systems and monitored intruder alarms. Some reduce premiums for seniors. Employment by a particular organization,or membership in an organization such as a credit union or alumni association may qualify you for an"affinity" discount. Some insurers offer discounts to loyal, long-term policyholders - a factor worth considering if you have been happy with your insurer's prices and service.

What You Should Know Before Signing A Roofing Contract

A house is incomplete without a roof. A roof provides protection and shelter much like the walls. Roofing of a house adds to its beauty as well as value. Are you planning to construct a new house or an office? Great! But, have you thought what kind of roofing will be best suited for it? If not, then start thinking right now, as even roofing reflects your status. Are you finding it troublesome to decide what type of roofing will be best suited and how to go about it? Do not worry; professional roofing contractors are there at your service.

A roofing contract implies a contract between the professional roofing contractor and the individual who assigns a task of constructing or/and designing the roof of his home or a building. Before, signing a contract you need to decide few things, such as what roofing material do you wish to use for the roofing, as different material vary in cost as well as characteristics that matches with your budget.

First, find out which roofing material matches with your desires and pocket. Roofing varies in multitude of materials used in its construction and their designs. Different roofing materials are utilized nowadays depending on the kind of roofing you desire to get. You can choose the kind of roofing material that you wish to employ from the below given list, each of them has different characteristics:

Asphalt Shingles This roofing material is the most common roofing material used these days. They are categorized into two - the organic and the non-organic. They are available in a wide variety of colors and with a lifespan 25 to 50 years.

Wood Shingles They are made from Western Red Cedar as it is highly resistant to decay and corrosion. Wood shingles are categorized into three kinds, one, two and three. The number one, is more recommended for roofing because they are more durable, the second and third are better for sidings.

Wood Shakes - They are used to provide a natural look, they are either sawed or hand split. Wood shakes are classified by their weight and their sizes.

Clay or Concrete - The most durable roofing material is made either from clay or concrete. But, due to their weight, clay or concrete roofing materials may need extra weight in the rafters adding more to the roofing costs.

Once, you have decided the roofing material you wish to use. Look for roofing contractor who offers you with a roofing contract proposal that suits best to your needs and budget. Make sure to select a specialist in order to get quality work. Find out if the roofer you are signing the roofing contract has experience with the type of roofing you are installing. Make sure to analyze all the aspects of the contract before signing with the contractor.

Smart Tips for Making Your Home Fire Safe

As the fires in southern California wind down, the process of rebuilding lives and properties begins. One thing that all those affected by the recent firestorm probably have in common, and something we share as well, is the thought that something like this happens to others - not to me. Unfortunately, it does happen - usually when you least expect it. Sometimes despite our best efforts, there is nothing that can be done; fire can be fickle. There are, however, measures that each of us can take to be prepared and things we can do to protect our homes.

Whether you live in a rural area or a populated area surrounded by open spaces as we have here in Marin County, you are vulnerable to wild land fire. Take a look around your property. Make your home as fire-safe as possible, and know what to do in case your neighborhood is evacuated.

BE PREPARED

Begin with the easiest and least expensive measures, and begin work close to the house and work outward. Bear in mind that the two primary factors in protecting your home are your choice in roofing material and maintaining a defensible zone.

Create a defensible space This is your most important defense against wildfire. It is recommended that you clear 100 feet around the perimeter of your home or to your property line, whichever is nearest.

- Remove dead vegetation This includes dry grass, leaves, and tree branches. Don't forget to check roofs and gutters, and be sure to clear spaces under decks and porches.

- Thin live vegetation Don't plant things too close together. By breaking up continuous masses of shrubs and other plants, you can help interrupt a fire's path. Keep trees and shrubs at least 10 feet apart.

- Maintain proper clearance Your house isn't the only thing that needs a clearance. Keep propane tanks, woodpiles, and stacks of construction materials at least 30 feet from any structures, and maintain a minimum of a 10-foot clearance.

- Use fire resistive plants Talk to your local nursery about landscaping with plants that have low flammability. Be aware that many native plants are highly combustible. Select plants that grow close to the ground and have low sap or resin. If possible, keep and irrigated greenbelt immediately around the house. Alternatively use rock or other non-combustible material.

- Build/remodel with fire resistant materials

- Your roof is particularly vulnerable to blowing embers. Speak with your local fire department or building department about recommended fire-safe roofing materials. Acceptable roofing material ranges from Class A fire-resistance rating, which provides the greatest protection, to Class C, which indicates the roof can withstand light exposure to fire. Asphalt shingles, slate, clay tile, and metal offer the best protection.

- Use fire-resistive siding. Siding should be Class III or better; stone, brick, and stucco are best.

- Cover exterior attic, soffit, and under floor vents with metal wire mesh, no larger than 1/8 inch. In the event of fire, this will help to keep sparks from entering your home.

- Cover chimneys and stovepipes with nonflammable inch screening.

- Provide good access to your home Firefighting personnel must be able to gain access to your property. The way in should be open enough for emergency equipment. Your house address must be clearly posted.

- Assure a source of water This is particularly important for rural addresses and those on a well. The most effective way to do this is to have a large storage tank on the property. Keep a rolled up garden hose attached to an outside connection available.

IF FIRE THREATENS

It is possible that, despite all your precautions, a wildfire will threaten your neighborhood. Knowing what to do can literally make the difference in your ability to survive. You may not have time to take all the measures mentioned below. Just do what you can. Use common sense if you stay with your home. If asked to evacuate, do so immediately.

- Fill your car with gas and back it into the garage or park it in the open facing the direction of escape. Gather heirlooms, pictures, and other treasures and put them in the car along with blankets and water.

- Evacuate children, the elderly, and the disabled Move people who would have difficulty protecting themselves to a safety before it becomes an emergency.

- Confine pets to one room Make plans for the care of your pets should you need to evacuate. Have carriers for your pets ready, even the most docile animal can be difficult to manage when frightened.

- Listen to TV or the radio for evacuation information

- Prepare the house

- Remove flammable materials such as lounge cushions and wooden furniture from the yard. Move the gas grill away from the house.

- Water down the vegetation surrounding your house.

- Close all windows and doors. Move furniture, draperies, and combustible items away from the windows. Windows can shatter from heat from an approaching fire.

- Shut off the main gas/propane line to the house.

- If you evacuate wear protective clothing - long pants, sturdy shoes, and a long-sleeved shirt. Notify a friend or family member that you are leaving, lock your door, and carefully drive to safety. Once you are safe, let the friend or family member you notified earlier know where you are.

AFTER A FIRE

Returning to your neighborhood may be traumatic. Whether you have lost your home or it has been spared, there will be things to do.

- Do not return until authorities say it is safe

- Watch for hazards You may encounter fallen trees or power lines, hot spots, or damaged roads. Be aware and use common sense.

- Check you house Check every space in the house for smoke or embers. This includes the roof, attic, all closets, and each room.

- Contact your insurance company Even if your home has been spared, you may have smoke or other types of damage.

- Check to see if your neighbors need help Of course, this goes without saying, but I'll mention it anyway. Once you know you're O.K., see what you can do to help others.

Don't make the mistake of thinking a fire could never happen to you. Hope for the best, but be prepared. Remember that your two best defenses are a defensible space and a roof with a good fire rating. Fire is unpredictable and if there is a weakness in your defense, fire will find it.

Find the Free Auto Repair Manual You Need Online

You can easily get a free auto repair manual for whichever repair need you might have. You need an internet access and have to follow a certain procedure searching for auto repair manuals, but when you have done this procedure a few times it will be very easy to find the right instructions for do it yourself auto repair and it won't cost you a dime.

There are four types of automotive description documents that you will need to choose from when you want to do a repair;

  • General manuals
  • Diagnosis descriptions
  • Repair manuals
  • Maintenance manuals

General Manuals

In addition to some general manuals, most of these are related to the make. Here you can get step by step guidance on how to repair most of the makes in the vehicle market. Let's say you have a Honda Acura 2002 model and you want to find a manual for that make and model. What you do is perform the following search in a search engine: "free car manuals+Honda Acura+2002". Then you will have a long list of sites that provide you with all kinds of descriptions for your Honda Acure 2002 model, and you can choose what you want.

Diagnosis descriptions

Automotive diagnosis manuals can also be sub-divided by make and model. But it can also be divided by the area of the vehicle that is affected, for example engine intake problems, brake problems, cooling problems, exhaust problems, start or stall problems, transmission problems etc. Let's say you have a start problem. Your search would be "car diagnosis manual+ start problem", then you should get more than enough repair information to choose from. You can even get diagnostic trees where all options are covered for nothing.

You have probably more than one time heard some annoying noise from somewhere in your vehicle, without finding the source of it. This is one of the most kinky situations to run into because you don't know if it is a serious signal or just a small thing. Some websites gives you the opportunity to diagnose vehicle problems by the noise, sound and vibrating signals - and that is great. The sooner you find it the sooner you can fix it and then you can relax. When you search, you can describe the sound, for example "whine noise" or "shifter knocks" or "driveline vibration" plus car diagnosis manual plus eventually the make.

Repair Manuals

In addition to regular manuals you can also get very instructive and detailed descriptions in other internet document or websites like articles, etc. The natural way to sub-divide such repairs before searching, is by the area of the vehicle that is going to be repaired, for instance body repair, exhaust repair, suspension fix, interior repair and even general car repair.

You do the search the same way as above; "car repair manual (or description) + the area of repair and go through the list of resources you get.

Maintenance manuals

Though vehicle maintenance is closely related to your vehicle make and model, there are some maintenance issues that are pretty much common whether you have a Cadillac, VW or a Mercedes, for example changing oil, changing air filters, engine wash, fluid maintenance, tier maintenance etc. You can get access to maintenance descriptions by searching for the kind of maintenance plus "car maintenance manual (or description)" plus eventually your make and model.

I think you'll be amazed of the amount of automotive repair free stuff online.

Patio Roof Construction - The ABCs

A patio without a patio roof cover leaves your house incomplete in many ways. To some it may look a stalled construction. To others it may look like inadequate utilization of what could be made part of the overall living space.

A patio, no matter how simple or complicated the design, can add to the livability of your house. It can increase not only the beauty of the house but also its property value. One of the main purpose of the patio roof is to provide protection from the elements. With the patio roof above your head you can enjoy outdoor space even in bad weather.

One the most popular roof structures are the simple patio roof. To learn how to install a patio roof can be easy. Whether the roof is attached to the house or is freestanding you will need the same basic framework. That is, posts set in concrete to provide extra stability, supporting beam and rafters. The kind of patio roof you select will determine how strong the framework would be and how far apart will the rafters be spaced.

There are many patio roof designs to select from. You can choose from a wide variety of patio roof designs such as plastic, aluminum, wood, fiberglass canvas or vinyl. If you want a roof that allows a little sunlight then go for the lightweight and easy to install plastic shades over widely spaced rafters. The roof should slope a bit to drain away the water or for snow to slip down

Wood is popular material because of its appearance and relatively low costs. However it is not resistant to erosion by the elements. It can warp or crack under too much stress. Wood is a good choice if you your patio to have a natural look. With wooden patios you can also have flowers and vines on the top or up the sides.

One of the most popular roof covers is aluminum, because it comes in a variety of designs. Aluminum comes in a variety of colors so that you can match the roof color to your house. It is affordable and longer lasting. Unlike wood, aluminum does not warp or break when exposed to the elements. The most attractive feature of aluminum is its high strength to weight ratio that will stand up to the force of the wind and weight of the snow. By following a few simple instructions you will be able to install an aluminum roof.

Fiberglass and plastic are the other preferred materials for patio roofing. Fiberglass is a translucent material that allows light and heat but keeps away rain. In fact they trap heat to create a greenhouse effect. That is why fiberglass may not be a very good choice for a west or a hot south facing patio

For stylish entertaining looks, go for a pergola. A pergola is a structure comprising only columns and an open roofed structure. The open roof is partly covered up by beams and rafters. Such a roof therefore will not protect you from rains but will provide some shade. To make your pergola still more attractive you could have growing vines or climbing flowers on the sides.

Conveyor Belt Repair With Urethanes

Problem:Conveyor beltsreceive extreme wear from the impacting of large size aggregate. Mechanical clips can be used to temporarily repair torn or worn areas of the belt. Other options include vulcanizing or replacement. Both areexpensive and involve lengthy unscheduled shutdowns costing thousands of dollars per hour. In many cases, belts might not be accessible to repair equipment.

Solution:The damaged area, including the belt and mechanical clips were roughened using a grinding machine and wire wheel attachment. Surfaces were then chemically cleaned usinga degreasing solvent. Mechanical clips were then primed usinga urethane priming agent for metal. A coat ofurethane rubber primer was applied over the rubber section and allowed to cure for 15 minutes.Next, a urethane is mixed and applied over the complete repair area replacing the worn or missing rubber. The urethane is smoothed over with a putty knife and allowed to cure for 4 hours.

Urethanes are 100% solids and bond well to rubber and metal. Urethanes are very resistant to abrasion and in many cases will outwear the rubber belt material. Holes that do not damage the overall integrity of the belt can also be repaired by applying mesh material and coating the area with urethane. Urethanes are available in a wide variety of duromters and curing times. Urethanes can also protect equipment where there is sliding abrasion, vibration, expansion, or contraction.

Users should be make sure they have all materials on hand to make repairs before beginning the repair.Several "belt repair kits' are available commercially that contain all necessary materials for making long lasting, in-field repairs.

Common Sense Home Improvements

In more prosperous markets, the mention of home improvement ideas meant double-sink vanities, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and spa baths. Today, upgrades have come down to earth with the focus on money saving, practical improvements meant to not only appeal to a prospective buyer's sense of style, but their wallet. Here is a top 10 list inspired from Forbes.com and their "10 Recession-Proof Improvements".

1. Cork Floors - This eco-flooring is not only economical, but practical as well. It provides good sound insulation, is much more comfortable for standing on than ceramic or slate, and has allergy resistant properties.

2. Bamboo Countertops - Also an eco-friendly alternative to standard countertops, bamboo can be harder and denser than maple. It comes in various vertical or parquet grain designs, and in a selection of colors.

3. LED Lighting - LED lighting systems use far less energy than standard bulbs. Although initially more expensive, they pay for themselves over time. Lower electric bills can be a great selling feature in any market.

4. Garage Doors - Gone are the stark white, plain, windowless doors we were so accustomed to. One of the most popular exterior features of an up-to-date home is a new garage door in one of the current designs such as a carriage style with a row of small windows.

5.Energy Star Windows - If your home needs new windows, then ensure that you choose energy star rated models. Not only will you save on heating costs, but you'll provide an extra incentive for a prospective buyer.

6. Tankless Hot Water Heater - Tankless hot water systems have become a popular, energy saving alternative to conventional hot water heaters. Their initial cost is a little higher, but they save 30-40% more in energy, are made to last 20 years or longer, and are designed to allow multiple water flows at once. This means two of the kids can be having showers at the same time the dishwasher is running.

7. Water-Saving Toilets - The demand for water-saving toilets has grown over the last couple of years and technology has improved to the point where these units use less than half the water of their older counterparts.

8. Nicely Landscaped Gardens - You can't beat good old curb appeal when selling a home. Your yard is often the first thing a buyer sees when house shopping, and the opinion they form can make or break a sale before they even set foot in your home.

9. Doorless Showers - Doorless or walk-in showers with sleek chrome trims are replacing large spa tubs by leaps and bounds. It's become a popular feature in most high-end condos and apartments.

10. Painting - A fresh coat of neutral paint on your interior walls can make a home feel like new. Paint or stain touch-ups can brighten up an otherwise worn home exterior, making it appear updated and well cared for.

Bathroom Remodeling Solutions For Poway Contractors

Here's a list of problems that contractors run into when designing, planning, and remodeling bathrooms. These bathroom remodeling solutions listed below, often create problems for homeowners as well as contractors. Some of these problems have created contract disputes and could have been solved if the contractor or a homeowner was informed properly.

1. Problems with Old Galvanized Water Pipes: This is one of the biggest problems with older homes. Metal rusts and water running through these metal pipes will speed this process up, considerably. The problem arises when the galvanized water supply pipes cannot be taken apart or unthreaded, to add new plumbing fixtures or pipes, during the bathroom remodel.

Solution to the Problem: Experience contractors should inform their clients, about problems like this and what they propose to do, if they run into a situation where the galvanized water pipes are badly damaged. There will usually be extra work, which leads to extra money and this could create a problem between the contractor and a homeowner.

2. Problems with cast-iron drainpipes: these pipes often rust or become separated at the joints, creating water leaks and even areas for tree roots to enter the drainage system. These tree roots of course will cause the drainpipes to clog and eventually will have to be cleared in order for the drainage system to work properly.

Solution to the problem: informed the home owner of problems with cast-iron plumbing. If the contractor explains to the homeowner, any problems that could arise and a solution, you will find the process of bathroom remodeling a little less stressful. This stress can be eliminated or the contractor and a homeowner with a little preparation.

If you're a remodeling contractor, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make out a list of potential problems for the homeowner. List as many of the problems as you can think of, that you have ran into in the past or have heard other contractors and homeowners talking about. These lists can be given to your clients when you sign the contract.

Good Web Site Design

There are very few web pages on the internet that clearly state what is good web site design and what is not good web site design. That's because it's completely subjective, like what is beautiful and what is not beautiful. So it takes a highly opinionated strong ego like this one to step in there and say "OK folks, this is what it is." Now I jumped on board the internet back in 1994 after I began to believe that not only would it be "The Next Big Thing", but that it actually does offer the human race the potential to connect all our minds together in an entirely new way. When I decided to create my own web site, I first had to take a good look at as many music and other web sites as possible in order to learn what not to do before I could visualize what I should do. I've visited thousands of web sites since then, I've talked to countless net surfers about what they like and don't like, and we all tend to agree on some major points:

Bad design includes the following qualities:

1. Text that is hard to read, including use of tiny fonts against black backgrounds and illegible fonts against picturesque backgrounds.

2. Anything that slows page downloading speed. Net surfers are impatient and they will exit out of any site where pages take too long to download or have plug-ins that have to be downloaded in order simply in order to view your page.

3. Lack of a clear "Mission Statement" on the home page. Web surfers want to know immediately what a web site is about. They don't want to have to read several pages to get it and then decide the time spent wasn't worth it.

4. Lack of clear instructions on the home page explaining how to get essential information from the site. Web surfers want to surf with speed, not study in a library.

5. A home page that requires you to click on something to enter the site (that's called a portal page). What's the point? You've already entered. Why in the world would you care to enter twice? Would an architect design two doors you'd have to go through to get into a bathroom? Would a sane contractor ever build it that way?

6. Confusing site organization, difficult navigation, dead links.

7. Boring writing. Not much can be done about this one. Creative writing isn't available from a web site designer at any price. If they were creative writers they wouldn't be doing web site design.

Good design includes the following qualities:

1. Text that is easy to read. Don't be afraid to use a large bold font against a light colored background.

2. The fastest downloading speed possible. If you're going to have a lot of photos, consider grouping them into one photo section so that people will expect that portion of your site to download slowly. Avoid gimmicks like flash graphics. And for goodness sake, don't make people download a plug-in just so that they can view your page.

3. A clear mission statement on the home page explaining what the site is all about.

4. Something on the home page that explains what the other pages are all about.

5. A home page that is a home page - none of that "enter" nonsense.

6. An organized site that has structure which can be easily understood.

7. Entertainment value. This is where good writing skills come in. Think of your site as if it were a novel or a hit record. You have to grab our interest immediately and then hold it by entertaining us. There's no better way to do that than with your personality through your writing.

Design professionals may try to project your personality but they often prevent it from shining through by using the same techniques they use on their other web sites. It's much better to be yourself and create something which they might call amateurish then it is to end up with something that looks and reads like everybody else's web site. Understand that the internet web site is the last true art form of the 20th century, so try to be creative. Think outside the box. And then create your own box.

How to Build a Log Cabin

It doesn't take a genius to build a log cabin home. The rustic appeal of a log cabin lies buried in the hearts of many people and this dream can be turned into a reality with a decent set of floor plans, a little hard work, perseverance and a good set of tools.

Step by Step Procedure

A step-by-step procedure makes it a relatively easy process to build a simple log cabin and ensures you won't miss any essential steps along the way.

1. Floor Plans - A decent set of floor plans can be purchased on the internet or you can have these drawn up for you by your local architect or builder. Be certain to include all the basics a log cabin home would have that make such a dwelling unique.

2. Location, Location, Location - As in real estate investing, this mantra is paramount for the enjoyment of your future home. Choose the view that suits you. Site your log cabin on land that drains well and ideally is level. Clear the land of trees, brush and rocks leaving those that you may wish to use in the construction of your new home.

3. Preparation - Construction begins with the purchase, placing and assembling of materials on-site. You will need all the necessities of home plus any amenities that will make your log cabin unique and express your personality so that you will derive complete fulfillment from your new home.

4. Construction - Generally, the construction process is the longest and most tedious stage of building a home. It can also be the most frustrating and most expensive as delays are encountered, obstacles are mastered and changes are incorporated into your design. Even Mother Nature may seem to be against you at times. But bearing through it all will be worth it as your home is finally ready for you to move in.

5. Move-In and Personalization - As you move in, personalize your log cabin with unique touches that exemplify your style, taste and personality and present you and your guests with a pleasant and comfortable home. Fireplaces, floor rugs, pictures, trophies, hunting memorabilia can all give your log cabin a special, comforting touch.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a Log Cabin?

Log cabin homes have traditionally cost less to build than homes of other types as construction materials and labor costs are often less - often by as much as 1/3. This reduced cost can be offset however by increased expenses in location, problems with access and siting requirements. Be sure to investigate local building codes and requirements before beginning any construction.

Alternative:

Log Cabin Homes for Sale: Is building a log cabin home too much? You can always buy one. The logistics of design, location and building can be overwhelming to many people so buying a cabin could be the best option for you.

Pre-Built Log Cabin Homes: These pre-fab log cabins come partially assembled with final assembly completed on-site. Combining some of the features of building your own along with the ease of buying a cabin, this could be your best alternative.

Dangers Using Wood Stair Cleats - New Stair Construction

I would imagine most people don't even know what it wood stair cleat is, in construction we have so many words that describe the same thing. A stair cleat is another word for a thread bracket. In other words it's the part of the stairway that connects the stair stringer to the stair step. These have been used for years and over time, most of them will develop the same problem.

Most wood stair cleats loosened up and create a safety hazard. If the stairs are located outside in extreme weather conditions, for example, if it rains or snows a lot, extremely humid humid weather, or extremely hot and dry temperatures, your staircase might not last that long, if it is or isn't maintained properly. It's not a bad idea to use steel or concrete for stairways in these climates.

If you're ever walking up a set of stairs with wood cleats and the stair steps feel a little loose or wiggly, make sure you examined the stair cleats for safety. It's not uncommon for someone to be walking up or down a set of wood stairs and having the stair step or tread giveaway because the wood cleats has loosened.

If the wood stair cleats are nailed to the stair stringer, the nails can loosen up, causing it to become loose, as you walk up and down the stairs applying pressure to the stair cleat, this will create movement in between the stair step and the stair stringer. This could cause the cleat to crack, break and separate the connection between the stair step in the stair stringer.

I would suggest using metal brackets instead of wood cleats. The metal brackets will not crack or disintegrate like some wood cleats. Stair building brackets of course can loosen up and should be maintained regularly.

If you decide to use wood stair cleats, I would suggest using screws instead of nails and drilling holes in the wood stair cleats, most of the time this will prevent cracking the cleat. Try to use a thicker material for the stair cleat, for example using a 2 x 4 with lag screws and washers would be better than using a 1 x 4 with nails.

If you're walking up a set of stairs and a stair step feels loose, contact the owner of the property and let them know, they have a problem with their staircase.

Kitchen Decorating Trends - Home Tips

The kitchen is the heart of the home and who hasn't spent hours in there sipping coffee with friends and family? So it should come as no surprise that one of the hot kitchen decorating trends of today is using coffee kitchen dcor to perk up the look of this much used room.

When decorating with this theme you will find that your kitchen takes on a trendy but also comfortable appeal. Giving your kitchen the look of a popular caf is one twist on this decorating method but you could also go with a vintage appeal and give it more of a diner look. Either way, this style of dcor is sure to please.

The great thing about this style is that you can use basically any color scheme. This allows the homeowner to easily give their kitchen the aura of a coffee house without having to spend a lot of time and money on painting and refitting it with new appliances. However, if you do want to give your kitchen a fresh coat of paint, you might consider the color of caf au lait - it's very popular and will go with any dcor if you should tire of the coffee theme.

Finding coffee kitchen dcor can be fun and today there are many options. First of all, you can find coffee themed items in most stores and online. Today, this trend is rather popular and you can find pot holders, kitchen towels and even curtains adorned with steaming mugs of coffee.

While all these items are great, I like to add a little unique flair to my decorating projects and what better way then to scour flea markets and antique shops for vintage coffee themed items. Here are some fun items that you can keep an eye out for that will add charm to your coffee themed kitchen:

- Vintage coffee house signs
- signs from coffee houses that show the menu or types of coffee
- Vintage sings for different brands of coffee
- Vintage coffee canisters
- Old coffee mills
- Plain white utilitarian coffee mugs and saucers just like you see in the old diners

You might also want to look for old tables from diners for your kitchen table or go with a more trendy caf look by using a wrought iron table with a glass top or even one of the modern style tables at the furniture store which actually resemble the tables and chairs you see in trendy coffee houses today.

So, you see, using coffee kitchen dcor in your home can be fun and you can even add unique appeal by finding one of a kind items that are reminiscent of the great coffee house days. With a little attention to detail, you're sure to put together a kitchen that reflects one of today's modern trends as well as a little bit of yesterday.

Your house doesn't have to be boring and you don't have to spend a lot to jazz it up either! To find out how to decorate your house on a budget, please visit http://www.perfecthomedecor.com where you can learn about all different decorating styles including more on coffee kitchen decor.

Characteristics of Bed Bugs

What are bed bugs? They are one of the most annoying pests around. You can imagine how film makers can make even these annoying insects the most lovable creatures, in the movies.

So, pictures of bed bugs in today's magazines and textbooks aren't as loathing. Pictures that you might see these days are just like pictures you might see roaches, ticks, ants, bees, and other kinds of insects. They are even humanized, characterized, or given physical attributes of humans.

The True Picture

Examining the bed bug under a microscope, you will find that they are wingless insects. They have waxy and protective skin covers, and aren't much different than any other insect.

Pictures of bed bugs show that they are very small, even microscopic. Looking at the from the top, they look like flattened organisms. This makes sense because they can creep and hide into the tiniest cracks, crevices, and holes in walls, floors, doors, and ceilings.

Their tiny size facilitates the need to take pictures of bed bugs using microscopes or magnifying glasses. Trying to look at one in person would prove very difficult, indeed, as they are too small to see with the naked eye.

If you have the super hero gift of Supervision, then you might probably be able to see and enjoy the physical attributes of these insects without magnifying glasses.

Where To Find Bed Bugs

They don't normally leave their hiding places in the daytime, which is another reason why it is easier to just look at their pictures in magazines and textbooks.

These tiny creatures are nocturnal so night time is party time for them. At night, they can be seen coming out in search of blood. Vampiric little things, aren't they? Our human eyes are weaker and less focused at night so, we can hardly see them when they are most active at night, hunting and partying. If you feel like you are being plagued by itching and scratching, this may be the reason.

Bed bugs are almost always found in crevices and small holes in the walls or on the floor.

Finding them is also tedious, requiring a lot of luck on the part of the searcher, or the person looking out for bed bugs. Why? Because full-grown, or adult, bed bugs can store food in their stomachs for about a year or more.

Unfortunately for you, you now know why pictures are more accessible than actual and live bed bugs, even if you are sure your place or bed is a breeding ground for these elusive creatures.

Bed Bugs' Eggs

Their eggs are too small for us to see them easily. Not surprisingly, their eggs are even smaller. Pictures of bed bugs' eggs are almost always minute as it stands in real life already, but in actual encounters, they are truly microscopic!

They can be carried through the air by dust in the wind. This makes their eggs infamous. They can be easily spread because of their light weight and size.

Closer examination of bed bug egg pictures will show that their eggs are almost like all the other insect eggs, tiny, microscopic, but equipped with structures that can make them independent. So, their eggs can hatch by themselves even without the mother bug around.

It takes just 10 days for these eggs to hatch. By that time, new bed bugs are born into the world, adding to their rapidly multiplying population world wide.

Female bed bugs, as shown by some pictures acquired through the Internet and books, become like queen ants. They get much bigger before laying eggs. This is because females can lay about 300 eggs in one pregnancy. How's that for a family!

Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

Through understanding and examination of bed bugs' pictures, we can figure out and understand how pesticides work.

Through pictures, we can see that these insects have protective waxy coverings that make them the same as most insects. It is this characteristic that makes them, and other insects with the same features, able to survive harsh and rapid environment changes, and even extinction.

There are many pesticides that target these protective coverings. Insecticides mostly contain powdered silicon and glass granules that break into this protective covering.

If you look closely at bed bugs' pictures, you will see that through the protective coverings, there are vulnerable insides and bodies. Pesticides attack these structures, killing them in a matter of minutes or hours.

It is much more desirable, that rather than looking at pictures of bed bug bites from yourself, or others who have fallen prey to these little vampires, to be looking at pictures of dead bed bugs who hopefully hadn't had the chance to feed on anything or anyone.

Have you wanted to know more about what bed bugs are, and what bed bugs look like, and especially, how to get rid of bed bugs? Then visit http://bedbugbitessite.com and learn all about bed bugs.

Deck Construction Building Help

Working in the construction business for over 30 years and listening to homeowners, tell me how fortunate I am to have the ability to work on my own home. It kind of makes me feel good to hear them praise me and when I have completed their project, they usually are extremely happy with how it turned out. I've been listening to this for years and came to one conclusion, anyone can do what I do, with the correct information.

I was building a deck and a homeowner and his son were there constantly, watching me work on the project. They would ask if they can help and if there was anything they could do, they would like to learn the deck building process, so one day they could build their own decks. Most of the time, they were in my way and slowed me down. I finally got to a point where I had to asked them if they could watch from a distance, because I was starting to run behind on the project. It was starting to cost me money to educate them. I just didn't have time for this and there was no way, that I wanted to hurt their feelings or make them mad at me.

They agreed and at the end of the day, would have a couple of questions for me. I told the father, that I would bring him a few books on deck building and he could keep them as long as he needed. Him and his son were more than happy to accept my offer and the next day, they were nowhere in sight. At the end of the day as I was putting my tools away, a homeowner and his son approached me and thanked me for loaning them the books, but they were done with them. The son explained to me, that they were going to purchase some of their own books on deck building, because mine were a little out of date.

To make a long story short, I finished the deck, got paid and went on my way. A few months later they contacted me and asked if I had time, can I come over the house and look at the new deck, that they built next to mine. I said I would be glad to, and would be there tomorrow evening. When I arrived at the job site, I couldn't even get out of my truck, the father and his son were waiting for me in the driveway and directed me to drive to the back of the home.

There new deck was about 10' x 10' and matched the one that I built pretty good. They did a great job and after I told them, what a wonderful job they did building the deck, they were like two kids in a candy store. It seemed like, I had just made their day and it made me feel good, and that they felt good.

Sometimes building a deck or home repairs can be performed like a professional, with a little bit of help, from the book.

Dealing With Bathroom Remodeling Mistakes

Are you looking forward to remodeling your bathroom? Bathroom remodeling is not only a lot of hard work, it is also a lot of fun. There are several advantages and disadvantages to bathroom remodeling. One of the disadvantage is the chance of something going wrong while you are doing your project; no matter how much experience you have in home improvement. Fortunately, there are ways to fix them so you can get back on track.

One of the most common problems in remodeling your bathroom, or any other home improvement project, is injury. Thousands of people injure themselves while remodeling their bathrooms each year. Even though the majority of these injuries are minor, there is a possibility of major injury as well if you are not careful. In the event of an injury, be sure you take care of it before proceeding with your project. If you need to seek medical assistance, please do so even when you want to stay to finish your bathroom. If left untreated, deep cuts will not only result in the loss of blood, they will also lead to infection. No bathroom project, no matter how wonderful the results will be, is worth getting ill over.

Remodeling mistakes are another common thing that can go wrong during your project. Not everyone has the experience of bathroom remodeling; even though many people do. Therefore, it is important that you learn a few things about your project before undertaking it. Remodeling classes and other resources are a good way to gain knowledge about your projects before you pick up your tools. Remember that mistakes are not the end of the world and they can happen even to the most experienced remodeler. Many of these mistakes include small amounts of paint spilled on the floor, using the wrong paint or even cutting a piece of bathroom tile too small. A lot of these mistakes are very easy to fix. Often, mistakes get blown out of proportion because some people do not sit back and think about their mistake and how they can correct it.If a mistake is made, be sure that you sit back and think about it so you can come of with ways in which to solve it.

After a mistake is made or after you recover from an injury, you can always return to your bathroom remodeling project. However, some remodelers might feel too overwhelmed once they start their projects. Some might not want to return to it after something goes wrong. Fortunately, if you find yourself in this situation, you can always seek professional assistance. Professional remodelers not only can remodel your bathroom from start to finish, they can also finish your project for you. If you find your bathroom remodeling too overwhelming, do not hesitate to call your local bathroom remodeling expert or contractor and they would be very happy to help you get it done.

Bathroom remodeling had it's own sets of advantages and disadvantages. However, having a remodeled bathroom has it's own rewards that make the projects worth it.

DIY Bathroom Remodeling - Home Remodels

The first question you need to ask yourself when remodeling a bathroom is can you actually do the work yourself or do you have someone that can help you with the remodeling. If you don't know anyone and can't do the work yourself, I would suggest hiring a contractor with experience remodeling bathrooms.

If you can do the work yourself or think you could do the work yourself, why not give it a shot. Any experience you have in construction or home remodeling, is going to be beneficial to your bathroom remodeling project. There is plenty of information on the internet or in your local libraries on bathroom remodeling and these often prove to be great resources for do it yourselfers.

As an experienced contractor I have gathered a great deal of information through books, at work and watching local home improvement shows. The biggest problem with the show's and quite a few of these books, is they don't provide enough information. Most of the time they provide you with the basics of bathroom remodeling and you could soon find yourself in trouble or seeking the advice from a home improvement professional.

The largest benefit for doing the bathroom remodeling project yourself, could be the money you save, along with the satisfaction of completing the project. It makes homeowners feel good when they've completed a large home remodeling project, like a bathroom remodel.

If you don't have the time, lack the experience or a combination of both, I would suggest hiring a contractor to relieve you from the stress and frustration of your bath remodeling project. The more complex your bathroom remodeling project is, the greater the degree of difficulty, the longer it will take to complete the project. Some of these projects can take up a lot of your time.

If you're working on galvanized water supply pipes or old cast iron waste pipes, you could find yourself hiring a plumber to install your bathtub and fixtures. These old pipes create problems for most do it yourselfers and I would suggest hiring a professional, whenever you run into a problem you don't feel comfortable with.

Choosing to tackle some of these difficult problems yourself, could lead to water leaks and more damage to the home eventually costing you even more money than the original cost of hiring an experienced plumber in the first place. When it comes to water, structural framing and electricity, think twice, especially if you're not experienced in these areas.

My advice to do it yourselfers is to hire a professional if you're not comfortable or seek the advice from a contractor or someone with considerable experience bathroom remodeling.

Green Building and Its Advantages!

Green building concept has emerged from the need to meet high standards of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. Focus is mainly on resources such as energy, water and materials and attains efficiency of these resources. It is said to reduce the energy bills and offer a healthier and more comfortable living environment. Reduce the effect of environmental hazards and ease its effects on human health and environment too. It is said that natural daylight design reduces a building's electricity needs, and improves people's health and productivity.

It is the use of eco-friendly materials that highlights the concept of green building. Purchase eco-friendly products to build a green home or a sustainable environmental building. Enhance the energy efficiency of your building! Put to use environmental friendly technology and see how energy efficient your building can get. Passive solar design can dramatically lower down the heating and cooling costs of a building, as with high levels of insulation and energy-efficient windows.

It usually requires a systemic attention to the full life cycle impacts of resources which is embodied in such green building and to the resource consumption and pollution emissions over the building's complete life cycle. Green buildings are also popularly known as eco-homes or sustainable buildings. It is generally agreed that green buildings are structures which are designed, sited, built, renovated and operated to energy-efficient guidelines, and that they will have a positive environmental, economic and social impact over their life cycle. Green specifications provide a good set of guidelines for the building industry, but these are still in the process of being formalised into UK regulation and many are open to interpretation. Make use of low energy appliances, energy efficient lighting and renewable energy technologies which uses solar panels and wind turbines.

9 Things to Remember While Building Your Opt-In Mailing List

The other day, I was leisurely browsing the Internet, and I discovered approximately 379,000 pages of expert advice on list building. This statistic clearly indicates that in the present day entrepreneurs across the world have recognized the importance of an opt-in mailing list. However, in addition to knowing the imperativeness of list building, it is essential to get acquainted with the dos and don'ts of the process. Here are 10 things that you should remember while building your opt-in mailing list.

1. Give people a chance to read your invaluable message and then opt-in. There are so many things that you can do to make your message visible. For instance, you can transform your information-laden message into an article and thereafter post it on various article directories. Do include a link to the subscription page. You can even create a website or blog and insert the subscription form on every page.

2. Why would anyone read your email and not hit the delete key? People are hungry for information that has the power to alleviate all the problems in their lives. Hence, strive hard to ensure that your email message is loaded with relevant information. One thing that you can do to make sure that your message is read is to put yourself in the reader's shoes while writing. This strategy would help you to write a compelling message rather than an ordinary sales pitch.

3. Your email message should have the capacity to do two things, first to convince the readers to fill out the subscription form and second, persuade them to forward the message to their peer group. If you are able to achieve both these milestones, your mailing list will build-up in no time. To make things easy, always include clear-cut forward and subscription instructions and appropriate links in every email message.

4. Make the signing up process incredibly easy. Remember to send the acknowledgment message. If your mailing list has swelled up exorbitantly, then it would be advisable to use an autoresponder rather than trying to send personalized acknowledgment messages.

5. Try to retrieve demographic information. You can either add related questions in the subscription form itself or you can attach a short survey with the form. Demographic information will give you a fair idea of customer location, interests and behavior. On the basis of this information, you can adjust your promotional materials and offers. This tactic will certainly increase the response rate and thereby profits.

6. Always leave your readers wanting for more. This will keep their interest alive as well as make it easy for you to sell your products and services. Hence, don't stuff all the information in one message. Divide things, and deal with the most important thing first. Leave the rest for future communications.

7. Never flood your subscriber's mail box. Prepare a plan that would help you to stay in touch with your subscribers plus give them time to digest the piece of information you have provided.

8. Your mailing list is an asset, therefore be very possessive about it, and don't ever think of selling it. At times, it is hard to sustain, but bear in mind that your opt-in list is the most cost-effective way to get in touch with your prospective customers immediately. Hence, nurture it sincerely.

9. Last, but not the least, always keep your eyes and ears open. Readily take in new ideas, processes and techniques. Although tried and tested methods are good, but they are not fail-proof. Therefore, it's usually beneficial to try out new things.

List building is definitely an intricate process that demands dedication, patience and hard work. Nevertheless, your opt-in mailing list gives you a group of highly targeted customers, and helps you to analyze customer behavior, which is crucial for business expansion and profit enhancement. So, get going and while building your mailing list do keep in mind the above 9 rules.

Extend Your Home Without Building an Extension!

If your home is starting to feel a little bit too small but you cannot afford to move at present, it can feel as though you are stuck for space. But there are solutions that can greatly enhance your home without having to go to all the expense of building an extension.

The other problem with an extension of course is that you may not have enough room to make one practical. If you are in this situation now you might want to think about having a veranda built instead, because if it is done properly and designed with care and attention it can really transform your whole house.

The first step is to take a good look at the outside of your home and think about the amount of space you could give over to a veranda. It doesn't need to be a perfect square or rectangle either - if you have space along one side of your house as well as at the rear, you could create an L shaped veranda that 'hugs the house'. This can look stunning when it is finished and the ground is done to your chosen design as well.

The secret of a good veranda is that it almost becomes another room. The roof transforms what was previously just a part of the garden into a sheltered area where you can put a table and chairs for entertaining. You could even use it as an outside office when the weather is nice enough! Just imagine sitting outside with your laptop and enjoying a cool iced tea while you finish typing that report.

It's important to think about how you would use your verandah before you decide on the final design or size you are going to opt for. For example, if you plan to use it for entertaining you will need to make sure it is big enough to accommodate the table and chairs you have in mind. You might also want to use a sun lounger to relax in the shade, but if the veranda is too small then you won't be able to use it like you had intended.

Just as with any other room in your house, you can add some decoration to your verandah as well. You could paint the walls of that part of your house a slightly different colour perhaps, or simply add some colour by putting a number of hanging baskets, pots and troughs filled with flowers around the structure itself.

All these things help to mark out the area as being separate from the rest of your house, and even as a separate area when compared to the rest of your garden too.

All in all a veranda is excellent value for money and one of the easiest ways to completely alter the mood and feel of your property. No matter what style house you have, you will be able to find a verandah that will fit right in and look as if it was always meant to be there.

The Bible's Power Over One Child

I mentioned Sean in another one of my articles, the story of a young foster boy that we were taking care of. Sean's father was my ex-wife's uncle, and they were going through some tough times for a while and their three children ended up as wards of the state. We eventually ended up taking the oldest child because he was the hardest one to place and another home. His brother and sister ended up with a family that wanted to adopt them and eventually Sean went to live with them and I believe all three of them were adopted by this family. I don't know this for a fact though.

Sean was a emotionally damaged child. His parents would punish him with some strange and bizarre punishments. They weren't really physical punishments but seemed to leave the emotional scars on him and I often think about where he is and what he is doing.

We watched him for about a year and I learned quite a bit from this young man. He was in the third grade but was still at the first grade level for reading and math. I would spend a couple of hours each night during the week helping him with his schoolwork, I seem to have created some sort of allusion that I would be able to bring him up to the third grade level within a short period of time. Wrong. He must've had learning disabilities and of course I don't think I was that good teacher.

Sean was easy going, polite and extremely obedient. He would do anything to avoid getting in trouble and often blamed others for his mistakes. His punishments must have been more than he could bear before he arrived at our home. I think you're getting the picture about what kind of a child Sean was.

One day I found myself in a dilemma with Sean, I couldn't get him to tell me the truth, even though I knew he was lying. I forget what the problem was but I remember a hollow look in his face. It was almost like he wasn't really there. It was almost like he was just doing time, sitting on the bed, listening to me asking the same question over and over again, "Sean are you lying", but he wasn't even paying attention.

I normally would not punish my children for accidents, and never tolerated lying. I was trying to explain to him that he wasn't going to get in trouble, I just wanted to know the truth. He wasn't budging at all and stuck to his story. I remembered that his mother and father were Catholics and feared the church, almost as much as they loved it.

That's what I came up with my evil plan. I don't know where I come up with these ideas, but every once in a while one pops up in my head and I run with it.

I told Sean that I was going to bring the Holy Bible in, and if he could swear on the Bible that he was telling the truth, I would accept that and this would be the end of our conversation. I couldn't believe my eyes, as he started crying and screaming, frantically and excitedly as a yelled out, I did it, I did it, don't bring the Bible in, I won't do it again.

I couldn't believe that was all it took to get information from him. I have always been a pretty good interrogator and found myself gathering information from those people easily, but this was amazing. His fear of the Holy Bible got me thinking about how powerful this book actually is to some people. I remember when I looked upon this book, pretty much the same as Sean did.

It's just a book, like any other book. It's not made at a holy factory or a secret monastery in the Swiss Alps somewhere, it's made from paper and ink and can be damaged and destroyed like other books. I would be surprised if I threw the Bible into the fire, that it wouldn't burn. I would be even more surprised, if I seen three men standing in the fire, wait a minute that's another story in the Bible.

Is it possible for this book to actually control the lives of people. It seemed to control Sean, I wonder if I, could have actually been driving a nail home that his parents started. Could I have added to his belief, that the Bible is a book from God the creator of everything.

What You Need to Know About Discount Ceramic Tile

Discount ceramic tile may be a way to save money. But it can actually cost you extra if you aren't careful. Watch out for the trap that will cost you extra and save money where you can. Here's how...

Cheap Tile Can Cost You.

High quality tile at a discount is a good thing. Sometimes however cheap ceramic tile is cheap for a reason. You see, often discount tile is inferior. That usually shows up as more variation in size from tile to tile. That's what will cost you. What happens is it takes more time to install.

The finished look of a tile surface is largely determined by how well the tile edges are aligned. If the size of the tiles varies quite a bit, it's impossible to align all the tiles well. The grout lines are going to wander around in spite of the best efforts of the installer. Those best efforts in an attempt to align the tiles is what costs you time and money. So look out for variation in tile sizes if you buy discount tile.

One Way To Get Discount Tile

Here's a money saving tile idea. Most of your tiles are alike. Most of the tiles are used to cover the larger areas of your surface. Those tiles are sometimes called field tile. But there are two other types of tile you may need. The first is trim tile, or the tiles that go along the borders. The other type are accent tiles. Those are pieces that have special features that make them attractive and decorative. You don't need nearly as many of either of these tiles as you need of the field tiles.

One way to look at many special tiles in a hurry is to shop online. Since you only need a few trim tiles and even fewer accent tiles, shipping cost isn't much of a factor. You can look at many special tiles without driving around and spending time and energy. Your choices are much larger online that you could see in days of driving from store to store.

Shopping online is a fast and cheap way to get accent tiles and trim tile. You can look at Mexican ceramic tile or Italian ceramic tile without spending time and money to drive all over. Maybe it wouldn't make sense to buy all your tile online and have it shipped. It might make really good sense to get the special tiles online.

Look out for excess variation in size of discount tiles. That variation will cost you.

Our website includes an Advanced Search Function that lets you look at discount ceramic tile very quickly. Shop online and save money.

Building Outdoor Kitchen and the Convenience it Offers

Convenience is what it is all about. Why do we need to have another kitchen when we already have one that is inside the house? It is because of convenience. Sometimes money spent is worth it because in the long run it will benefit not only you but the whole family. These days' people are always in the rush. So we do not have the energy or the time to shuttle back and forth to the kitchen and the living room or the dining room. The great thing about an outdoor kitchen is you can always entertain there.

You can build it in such a way where you can have chic and comfortable furniture where your visitors can sit and lounge for as long as they want. You no longer have to leave your guests while preparing food for them. Your guests can even help you with the preparation of the food. Bonding time is even longer. This is not only applicable with guests but with the whole family as well. Your kids can actually make a mess and they would not mess up the whole house.

One piece of advice though, when building your outdoor kitchen, keep it as close to your house as possible. So you need not shuttle back and forth from the house back to your kitchen. Do not make a convenience an inconvenience by building outdoor kitchen far from the main house. Consider the fact that you can hook up your outdoor kitchen with utilities that your main house has.

Pick Perfect Bathroom Accessories

Any fashion-forward individual will tell you that properly accessorizing can make - or break- any outfit. This guideline does not just apply to fashion, however. When remodeling, redecorating or even rearranging furniture, adding accessories can complete the look you're going for. More often than not, however, many homeowners and renters overlook one of the most crucial rooms in their home: the bathroom. Providing unique, useful accessories can transform your bathroom instantly.

Down the Drain

Though this turn of phrase is usually applied to wasting money unnecessarily, when it comes to redecorating your bathroom, it is critical. Evaluate your current drain both in the shower stall, bath tub and sink. Is each drain functioning properly? Are any drains slow or may be clogged? One of the major reasons for slow drainage in showers and tubs is due to hair. To unclog your drain yourself, unscrew the screws holding the metal lid in place; remove the lid and check the piping to see what's literally causing the jam. Prevent future stoppage problems by purchasing a plastic hair stopper to slip over the drain.

Faux Faucets

Even if you're not a millionaire, styling your bathroom like you are does not necessarily cost much money. Check out your faucets; are they made out of plain, dull metals? Why not add a touch of elegance and class by replacing your faucet with a different, less ordinary metal? If you like shine-opt for chrome, polished brass and satin nickel finishes. Contrarily, oil rubbed bronze gives off a luxurious, rich tone to any bathroom.

Soothing Showers

Admit it; you've got a shower problem. Whether it's too little or too much water pressure, too small a showerhead or just simply an old, rusted shower unit, your shower set could use a makeover. It's time to admit this problem and replace it! Installing a new shower set can instantly transform your bathroom from boring to fantastic. Consider shower units that offer detachable or moveable shower heads; these models combine cleaning with a relaxing water massage, making your everyday shower experience all the more thrilling.

If you have replaced your faucets and drains with a new finish, be sure to match your bathroom set completely by installing the same or complimentary finish. Shower set finishes typically include a dark bronze, chrome and satin nickel.

Trendy Towels

If you're just not ready to throw in your ordinary white towels, that's okay. While hanging bright towels in unique patterns or designs does add flair to any bathroom, white towels are just fine. Consider replacing your towel bars instead. Typical bathrooms utilize the space on the back of the door. While this is convenience and space-saver friendly, it does not add much to the overall design.

By installing multiple towel bars in a ladder-like pattern on your wall, you can not only hang more towels, but also create plush wall art. When purchasing your new towel bars, remember what other fixtures you have already replaced. While most of the finishes in your bathroom should match or be the same, do not be afraid to go bold when it comes to your towel hardware. Matte blacks, browns and greens offer a rich tone, while polished chrome and satin nickel and chrome provide a more sterile, clean feeling.

For the ultimate upgrade, choose towel bars that have a heating function. This way, you'll never shiver as you emerge from your 90 degree steam shower again!

Soak in the Suds

Naturally, any good bathroom must have the proper soaps, shampoos and fragrances on hand. While shampoos and conditioners tend to be more sweet-smelling, your hand soap should not. No guest likes to spend the rest of their day smelling like a watermelon. Instead, choose a softer scent that is fresh, clean and light. No matter what soaps you choose, ensure they are gentle on your hands, especially if you wash your hands frequently throughout the day.

Don't Make This Mistake When Buying a Home

Home purchasing checklists provide protection for consumers with useful information for future home repairs or current home repairs that will need to be done before the home is sold. Home inspectors often use checklists like these, while they're inspecting the home.

If more home shoppers used home inspection checklist while shopping for houses, we would probably have more satisfied homebuyers than dissatisfied ones. Recently just purchasing a home, we had our real estate professional, the previous homeowner's real estate professional and a mortgage lender, involved in the purchase of the property.

There was a home inspection report from the current homeowners, available for us to look at. It provided us with the damaged parts of the home that were repaired or replaced. Some of these repairs were from termite damage and it was stated so on the report. This was helpful information for us as we walked around the home inspecting it for damage.

The work that was repaired to look satisfactory and the rest of the home had minor damage. Listening to one of the real estate sales people that were involved in the transaction, you would've thought we would get in the deal of a lifetime and they had nothing but good news to say about the product they were representing. I easily understood that, this person could have influenced some one into believing that the home was in great shape, if they didn't have a home inspection checklist with them.

The home had been re-carpeted, painted and was in generally good shape. The problems with the home, were the old windows that were hard to open, the heating unit leaked gas, the tile flooring that ran through the kitchen and a large room addition looked great, except for one thing, they installed the tile over linoleum.

This eventually will have to be replaced as the tile starts to separate from the linoleum. While I'm writing this article, there's about 40 square feet of tile that needs to be replaced, because it's popping up and cracking.

A home purchasing checklist does not guarantee that you will find everything but can't eliminate some of the things that homeowners have the biggest problems with. If you could just eliminate one of these problems, the small price of purchasing, one of these checklists would be worth it.

Home purchasing checklists provide protection for the shopper and I would recommend, never shopping for a home without one.

If your looking for some more home inspection or home building ideas.

Modular Homes - A Home Builder's Delight

The Advantages of Modular Homes

Modular homes sections are constructed in climate-regulated manufacturing plants, allowing builders to eliminate the expensive delays they experience whenever the weather their building sites turns against them. The time it takes to have a modular home up and in move-in condition from the moment it is ordered can be as short as ninety days, and that kind of turnaround can mean savings which a builder can pass along to a customer. Being built inside and away from the weather also means that modular homes can be ordered at any time of the year.

Discounts On Materials

Another advantage modular homes offer for builder-developers is that their materials, both for the exterior, and the interior finishing materials and appliances, can be ordered in bulk lots, at significant discounts. Yet they will be equal in quality to any of the materials or appliances used in standard homes. This is another huge savings for the builder, and eventually for the customer.

Factory Site Quality Control

One often overlooked advantage of modular homes for builder-developers is that because a modular home is manufactured in a single factory, those who are building it will be subject to the same performance standards. The end result is a home of uniform quality throughout, and both the home builder and the future home owner will benefit from knowing that.

Customization

How about the fact that going modular allows a builder to tailor his home plans to his customers' specifications? This is a terrific advantage of modular homes for builder-developers because it gives the builder the flexibility to either draw up his own plans or order homes built to an individual buyer's request. Modular homes can be created in any architectural style, and a design plan can even be changed via computer if the customer comes up with a new idea.

Unlimited Choices

Another advantage of modular homes for builder-developers is that there is literally no limit to the size or architectural detailing of these homes. From vacation cottages and log cabins to palatial multi-storey seaside retreats, of even multi-family structures, modular homes are available for every possible taste and budget. There are even some builders who now choose modular construction for their commercial office projects.

The advantages of modular homes for builder-developers have become so great that they clearly outshine any small stigma which may remain in the minds of some when they hear the term "modular home!"
